Miglé: Weaving Nature into One-of-a-Kind Wearable Art
In a world of fast fashion and mass production, Lithuania-based textile artist Miglé creates something truly special—wearable pieces that are as unique as the people wearing them. Inspired by her deep love for nature and her surroundings, each garment she designs is a one-of-a-kind work of art, infused with meaning, texture, and a personal touch. Her creations go beyond clothing; they tell stories, evoke emotions, and celebrate the beauty of craftsmanship.
Can you tell us three things that make you, you?
Collecting nature artifacts like old nests, eggshells, and dried butterflies is the number one thing that defines me. Being happy, joyful, and passionate about these treasures—finding “miracles” in nature—is my number two. I can remember the exact moment when swans flew over my head and tell the story with passion for years if it felt special to me. I share tiny stories with my closest people about the birds I saw or how adorable a pair of mice looked as they slept in a tree hollow. This is the most precise image of me and how I see myself. I can’t think of a third one, so I guess the first two make up my whole self.
What are you making and creating these days?
In my textile craft, I am constantly working on multiple custom orders along with a few larger collaborations. My work mainly includes hand-quilted jackets, vests, and tote bags. At the same time, I am following my “back to nature” path, which has always been at the heart of what I do. In addition to collecting all sorts of nature treasures, I recently started attending ornithology school. I am hoping—and dreaming—that alongside the textile craft I love, this new passion will take me somewhere exciting and unknown.
What does mossom mean?
It’s a word my husband came up with many years ago. It combines moss and awesome. It doesn’t have a direct connection to what I do now, but it still feels true, so it just stayed with me. :)
What inspired your brand?
I don’t really think of my craft as a brand. I consider myself—Miglė—a creator, and mossom is just a nickname. My work is inspired by a passion for creating something unique, long-lasting, and meaningful. Textile is a wonderful medium for that, and the feedback I receive from people who feel special in my pieces is my biggest inspiration. It keeps me going.
What was the moment when you decided to just go for it?
It happened very shortly after I started quilting. I was on maternity leave at the time, so it wasn’t a huge leap of leaving everything behind and taking a risk. It was more something I could do alongside my daily life—which eventually turned into something I could fully dedicate myself to.
What do you do to stay inspired and creative?
Resting, flipping through nice books, and escaping the city for a while always helps me.
Has fashion always been a part of your life?
I think that fashion is just a trend, and a trend’s main goal is to make you feel that you have to keep up with it, which naturally just means never stopping buying. So, I never cared much about it. But style is so much more, and that is something that started to catch my curiosity and attention only in the past few years.
Have you faced any struggles as a female business owner? How did you overcome them?
As a small business owner, yes. It is a constant struggle in so many aspects, but I think it is just something you have to accept if you choose it. I can’t think of a big challenge I would have had to overcome, but sometimes, all those small ones piled into one might feel like a mountain.
Thank you, Miglé, for sharing your story and making the world a little more fun, colorful and joyful.
